Privacy Policy for IELTS Prep BD
Last updated: September 25, 2026
1. Introduction
IELTS Prep BD is an independent IELTS-style preparation app operated from Bangladesh. This policy explains what data the app handles, why it is used, and the choices available to you.
2. Account information
The app requires a Google account for sign-up or login. We collect the name and email supplied by Google. After sign-in, you may optionally provide a contact phone number; it is not used for OTP or authentication.
3. Information stored on our servers
- Profile settings, target Band, language preference, routine, and exam date.
- Your study plan: study mode, the papers you choose to focus on, your level check result, and which plan items you started, finished or skipped.
- How you heard about the app, if you answer that question, and the campaign tags (such as utm_source) of the link that led to your install, as Google Play reports them.
- Optional one-tap answers about lessons, your plan and your Coach report.
- Practice history, answers, skips, duration, question type, and scores.
- Writing and Speaking submissions, transcripts, and AI feedback results.
- AI usage, referral, promo, and Premium entitlement records.
- Support messages and the contact details supplied for a reply.
- Payment-submission details such as plan, bKash transaction ID, and optional last four sender digits. We do not collect a full payment account or card number.
4. Information stored on your device
The app keeps a local copy of settings, lesson history, streaks, XP, badges, vocabulary progress, and daily activity so practice works reliably. Core progress and settings are also synced to your signed-in account.
5. AI processing and service providers
When you request Writing or Speaking feedback, or talk with the Speaking Buddy, the submitted text or voice recording is sent securely to our server and processed by third-party AI providers, currently Groq, Inc. and/or Google, solely to produce feedback, a transcript or the Buddy's reply. Voice recordings are processed and are not retained by the app after evaluation; the resulting transcript and feedback may remain in your history.
6. Notifications and device access
Practice reminders are scheduled locally. The microphone is used only when you choose to record a Speaking response or talk with the Speaking Buddy. The app does not access your contacts, photos, location, or messages.
7. Website measurement
On this website (not in the app) we record a row for each page view: the page path, whether the device is a phone or a desktop, the external site you arrived from if any, and the time. To avoid counting one reader many times, the page generates a random identifier that is stored only for the life of the browser tab and is discarded when you close it. That identifier is not linked to your account, and we do not record your IP address, name, or any identifier that persists between visits. These page-view counts are stored in our Supabase database and are visible only to the site owner. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, also supplies website performance measurement through its Web Analytics script. We do not place advertising trackers on the website. The Android app is different — see section 8 below.
8. Advertising in the Android app
The Android app includes the Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) SDK. Advertising is currently switched off, so no ads are requested and no ad is shown. If we turn it on, the free version of the app may display ads between lessons and around exam practice, and Google may process device information, an advertising identifier, approximate location inferred from network information, ad interactions and your consent choices in order to provide, measure and protect those ads. We ask for consent through Google's consent form where that is required before any ad is requested, and Settings > Privacy > Ad privacy choices in the app lets you review or change what you chose. Premium accounts see no ads at all.
Version 1.131.0 offered an optional measurement switch. From version 1.132.0, limited app and campaign measurement runs automatically only where our regional privacy check confirms that consent is not required. It stays disabled if the check fails or consent is required, and an explicit refusal saved in the previous version is respected. Google/Firebase receives sign-up, login and limited app activity events, activity identifiers, ratings, app version, crash diagnostics and performance information. Meta receives app installation and activation events, registration and selected study-engagement events for campaign measurement. Providers may process device information, IP/network information, install referrers and advertising identifiers. Advertising personalization is disabled for this measurement. Measurement payloads do not include your name, email, answers, support messages, transaction IDs, recordings or AI feedback. Account creation attribution is recorded once per account; owner activity is excluded.
Silent reminders, app-update notices and owner messages respect the app notification choice and Android permission. Firebase Cloud Messaging uses an installation token for delivery. We store notification choices, permission status, app version and last report time against the account. You can disable notifications in app Settings or Android settings. Provider acceptance does not prove delivery or reading.
9. How we use and protect information
We use data to provide accounts, synchronize learning, personalize practice, generate requested AI feedback, provide support, protect the service from abuse, prevent duplicate payment transaction IDs, manage Premium access, and measure app-install advertising as described in section 8. Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. We do not sell personal data. Website page-view and hosting performance measurement are described in section 7.
10. Retention and deletion
Server data is retained while your account exists. You can permanently delete your account from Settings > Privacy > Delete account. Account-linked server records and synced learning data are deleted, and the app clears account-scoped data stored on that device. If the in-app control is unavailable, follow the instructions on our Account deletion page. Limited records may be retained only when required by law or necessary to resolve fraud, security, or payment disputes.
11. Children
IELTS Prep BD is a general study tool. We do not knowingly create accounts for children who are below the age required by their country's laws to hold an account of this type.
12. Changes
We may update this policy as the app changes. The current version and update date will remain available on this page.
