IELTS Speaking practice with Speaking Buddy

Preparing an answer silently is different from speaking it aloud. Speaking Buddy in IELTS Prep BD offers IELTS Speaking mocks, topic conversations and practice using your own vocabulary. The demonstration shows a conversation and the format of a practice report.

Choose a mode for your task

Choose a Speaking mock for exam-style answers, a topic conversation to keep a discussion going, or own-vocabulary practice to use words you have learned. You do not need to complete every mode in one session; start with one clear goal.

Move from an opener to an answer

An unexpected question may require a moment to think. The sample shows a short opener followed by a real answer. Move on to your own point, reason or example rather than treating a memorised phrase as the entire response.

Use the report for your next attempt

Choose one improvement from the feedback and try again. The report in the demonstration is a practice example; your report will differ. AI estimates are not official IELTS results. Check the app for current Free Speaking Buddy allowances.

Buy Thinking Time

Use short, natural thinking phrases to handle unexpected Part 1 and Part 3 questions without long silences.

Use one short opener

When you genuinely need a moment, use one brief opener and then answer. It keeps the turn moving while you organise your first idea.

What do you enjoy about your hometown?

That's an interesting question. I'd say the food, because there are so many small places to try.

The opener is short; the real answer starts immediately after it.

Admit unfamiliarity briefly

For an unfamiliar topic, you can briefly say you have not considered it before, then offer your best idea. Do not stop at "I don't know."

Why do some people enjoy collecting old objects?

I've never really thought about that before, but I suppose old objects can make people feel connected to the past.

One honest phrase creates space, then the answer gives a clear idea.

Try it yourself

The Examiner asks: "Would you like to learn another language?" Which opening handles a brief thinking pause best?

  1. That's a good question. I'd probably choose Spanish because I enjoy how it sounds.
  2. Please give me some time so I can prepare a careful answer.
  3. Umm... well... actually... you know... I mean... let me think for quite a while.
